Green Bottle Sliding Scale
I use the green bottle sliding scale framework to price my packages equitably. Thank you to Alexis J. Cunningfolk for developing the green bottle method.
"For a sliding scale to work it relies on the principles of truthfulness, respect for complexity, and accountability. I do not ask for income verification. I trust my students and clients to be honest. Community thrives when accountability is a central value, because that is where trust grows and depth work can be done. Teachers deserve to get paid and students deserve classes which recognize the multiple realities of economic access and privilege that exist." - AJC

A doula can make a huge difference in your birth experience. Through continuity of care, advocacy, and education the presence of a doula has been shown to improve birth outcomes and birthing people’s satisfaction. If you want to dive into the research of just how beneficial a doula can be, I would recommend checking out this post.
-
When you are in labor you want your partner to be able to fully focus on you. Your doula doesn’t replace your partner, instead they work with your partner so that they are able to give you the undivided attention and support you’ll need from them. When you have a doula your partner gets to take out the guess work, doesn’t have to be worried about being distracted while trying to remember everything about childbirth, and they have the option to get some sleep during those longer labors without feeling like they’re leaving you alone. Remember, your doula is just as much of a support person for your partner as they are for you.
-
A midwife and an OBGYN are both medical professionals who can do things like pelvic exams, administer medicine, perform procedures or interventions, and offer medical advice. They attend your labor intermittently or towards the end when you arrive at the hospital and/or birth center. Doula’s are birth professionals who cannot perform medical procedures or give medical advice but can advocate for preferences that the birthing person has. Additionally, doulas are there throughout the entirety of your labor offering a continuous presence through emotional support, position changes, comfort measures, physical support, and more.
-
YES! Doula’s aren’t just here to advocate for unmedicated natural births. We offer advocacy in many different ways including but not limited to encouraging you to speak up and ask questions, verbally supporting you and reminding you of your decisions, facilitating communication between you and your providers, creating space for you to make decisions without feeling pressured, and reminding care teams of your decisions when needed.

Prenatal visits are in person and above all else are a time for us to get to know each other and build a strong relationship so that you go into your labor confident in your trust in me as a doula. We will cover topics like birth preferences, common myths, fears, packing for birth, labor positions, comfort measures, coping techniques, childbirth education, fetal positioning, outside referrals, and more.
